Roof Repairs in Plymouth

Find the cause first, then fix it properly

Water rarely comes through a roof at the point you see the stain. It runs along timbers and under the covering before it shows up on a ceiling, which is why a quick patch over the wrong spot usually fails. A good repair starts by tracing the leak back to where it really begins.

Any Weather Roofing LTD carries out roof repairs for homeowners across Plymouth. Whether it is a handful of slipped slates, a failed flashing or a roof that took a battering in a south-westerly gale, we look at the whole picture, explain what we find and quote for the work that is actually needed.

What we deal with

Common roof problems we repair

If you recognise any of these, it is worth getting the roof looked at sooner rather than later. Small faults get more expensive when water is left to work its way in.

  1. 01

    Leaks and damp patches

Brown stains on ceilings, damp on a chimney breast, or drips in the loft during heavy rain. We trace the entry point rather than guessing.

  2. 02

Slipped, cracked or missing slates and tiles

Often the first sign is a slate on the drive. Individual slates and tiles can usually be replaced without disturbing the rest of the roof.

  3. 03

    Storm damage

High winds lift ridge tiles, loosen slates and strip flashings. We can assess the damage and tell you what is urgent and what can wait.

  4. 04

    Failed flashings and leadwork

Where the roof meets a chimney, wall or dormer, the metalwork has to keep water out for years. When it lifts or cracks, damp follows.

  5. 05

Loose or cracked ridge and hip tiles

The mortar bedding that holds ridge tiles in place wears out over time. Left alone, the tiles can shift and let water into the roof.

  6. 06

    Blocked valleys and gutters

When water cannot drain away it backs up under the covering. Clearing and repairing the run-off keeps the roof doing its job.

Repair or replace?

A repair is usually the right answer when the damage is localised and the rest of the roof is sound. If you are paying to fix the same roof again and again, the slates are crumbling, or the battens beneath are rotten, a new roof can be the more sensible spend.

We will tell you which situation you are in. If a repair is all you need, that is what we will quote for. If the roof is nearing the end of its life, we will explain why and show you the options, including a full re-roof if that makes more sense.

Why Plymouth roofs take a beating

Plymouth sits on the Atlantic edge of England. Driving rain, frequent wind and salt-laden air from the Sound are hard on slates, fixings and lead, particularly on exposed and coastal streets. Older terraces and 1930s semis often have original roof coverings that have simply done their time.

That is why we recommend a proper look at the roof after any severe weather, even when nothing seems wrong inside the house.

FAQs

Roof Repairs questions

How do I know if my roof needs repairing?

Common signs are stains on ceilings or walls, daylight in the loft, slates or tiles in the garden, water running from gutters in the wrong places, and damp smells upstairs. If you are unsure, send us a photo on WhatsApp or give us a call and we can talk it through.

My roof is leaking now. What should I do?

Move belongings away from the drip, put a container underneath and call us on 07745 364 538. Tell us it is actively leaking and we will let you know what is possible. Please do not climb onto the roof yourself.

How much does a roof repair cost in Plymouth?

It depends on what has failed, how easy the roof is to reach and whether scaffolding is needed. Replacing a few slates is a very different job from reworking a valley. We give a free, no-obligation quote once we have seen the problem.

Will I need scaffolding?

Not always. Smaller repairs can often be carried out safely from ladders or a roof ladder. Higher or more extensive work may need scaffold or a tower, and we will say so in the quote.

Can you repair part of a roof or does it all need replacing?

Most of the time a repair is possible. Where the rest of the roof is also failing, we will explain the pros and cons of repairing versus replacing so you can make the call.

Do you cover areas outside Plymouth?
